    My New Pump-a-matic Bike Seat

    Monday, August 25th, 2008

Every now and then there comes along a product so wacky and weird that it piques my interest…

Well, Allay has just released its first pump-a-matic road bike seat so you can set the desired firmness of it.  I just received this seat for free with the caveat that I’m responsible for giving feedback and along those lines I will fill you (my blog readers) of my findings as well…Also if any of you have you used this let me know!!

Here are some pics of the Pump-a-matic:

    The True Hipster Bike Shop

Ok, If you u know me well enough you know I ride a motorcycle and I have a single-speed bike…Its a nice-ass bike too.  A specializied langer boston edition that I got on the cheap at a snobby bike shop that shall go unmentioned.  They were really trying to get rid of them and would rather sell carbon fiber $5000 bikes/frames than sell anything that regular people could buy… (Disclaimer:  I don’t have anything against expensive bikes but I do have a problem with Bike Snobs/Sales People looking down at average guy wanting transportation and not wanting to break the bank to do it)

Recently, I needed to have some work done on it and I really didn’t want to take it to these shops that will charge an arm and a leg…So as I was getting work done on my motorcycle I spotted a shop called Bike Club.  I was immediately intrigued by the name and crossed the street and entered through a non-descript grey steel door.  Once inside the dimly lit store you notice bikes all over the place, bird cages, sculptures of the Virgin Mary and photos of various people.  One thing I noticed in the piles of parts they had everywhere is that it ran the gamut from entry level to high perfermance components. To say this place is eclectic is not doing it justice.

As I was looking around at what they had, Kevin the head mechanic/salesman asked me if I need any help.  I told him what I needed done and he gave a great price and told me that he could have it done in a day.  WHOA!  I couldn’t believe that it would be done by the next day and true to his word the bike was finished when it was supposed to…Those high-end bike shops are back-logged three weeks during the summer and most of the time there is a hierarchy system involved of who gets their bike worked on first.  So if you want to get a bike, get some work done or want to see a store that Cosmo Kramer would be proud of then do your self a favor and go to Bike Club…
